The price of each gram of 18-karat gold (the mazaneh) is updated every minute on this page. It is calculated from the global gold ounce price and the dollar rate; the final price of jewelry = mazaneh + making charge + seller profit + tax.

18-karat gold is the most common gold purity in Iran’s market and the basis for pricing jewelry. Each gram of 18K gold is calculated from the global ounce price multiplied by the dollar rate and a purity conversion — so it is fed by both the global and the domestic market at once.

When buying gold, knowing the “mazaneh” (the per-gram price before making charges) is essential so you can separate the jeweler’s charge and tax from the actual gold value. On this page you can see the live 18K gram price, today’s change and its global equivalent.

Narkhgah’s gold calculator also computes making charges, seller profit and tax precisely, so you know the final price before you walk into a jewelry store.

What determines this price?

The global gold ounce price

The global ounce (the dollar price of 31.1 grams of pure gold) is the base of the calculation; global jumps transfer directly to the Iranian gram price.

Tehran’s dollar rate

Because the ounce is priced in dollars: gram gold = ounce × dollar ÷ purity conversion. So every rise in the dollar pushes gold up too.

The domestic market bubble

On hectic days the domestic price rises above the calculated value (a bubble) and corrects when the market calms; coins take on a bigger bubble than gold.

Second-hand gold supply

The volume of people selling gold and coins back to the market shifts the supply–demand balance and matters in the short term.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 18K gold price today?
